February 23, 2008 - Love Won Out Conference, Memphis
11:03PM
Today was intended to be a “day off” from the Catalyst Road Trip as we spent time at the Love Won Out Conference from Focus on the Family. The Love Won Out ministry exhorts and equips the church to respond in a Christ-like way to the issue of homosexuality, an issue that we all know is on the front line of the church. When Mike Haley shared his testimony about his journey out of the homosexual lifestyle it became crystal clear that what was being shared would add great value to the road trip blog.
Homosexuality. The world is talking about it and yet the church continues to play catch up…chances are if you are reading this blog then you know someone who is dealing with the issue of homosexuality on some level. Maybe you are dealing with this it on a personal level. It is a polarizing issue in our culture, and what is sad is that the church is often the last place a person would go to find help. Have you read unChristian? Christians are now widely identified as anti-homosexual and judgemental. How will the church respond? What can be done? There are men and women speaking with peace, clarity, and hope. Their voices are like drops of rain on parched soil. Mike Haley (author and speaker for Focus on the Family with an amazing testimony), Alan Chambers (President of Exodus International), and Nancy Heche (author, speaker, and mother of Anne Heche, Ellen Degeneress’ former partner) broke away from the conference for a few minutes and spent some time with us in the Catalyst Vanagon. You do not want to miss what they have to say about the issue of homosexuality. It’s late and we have an early morning tomorrow as we leave for Little Rock, AR - the videos from Mike, Alan, and Nancy will be posted tomorrow. Here is a picture capturing this surprise opportunity to connect with so many leaders in the church blazing a trail along the controversial line of homosexuality:

Are you aware of the Google ads on this page? Interesting, I must say.
Regardless, I’m reading Nancy Heche’s book and find it fascinating.
